Hello my dear Year 1s of DHSChoir!
Well, the big night is over, and what i would like to say is all of you have put in a Good Effort! Well Done!
Choral music is a concerted effort by every single choirster. All of you will have to give in your >100% to make beautiful music.
I have to say that most of you did a good job! You were focused and remebered your parts to sing. You gave your all to Choir, and i can tell you that every single choir member is grateful of that.
However, some caved in and gave up easily. It is rather saddening though. Probably it is because it was your first concert. I don't blame you guysactually. Treat this as a learning experience!
These are actually some of the good and bad points pertaining to how all of you faired for the concert yesterday.
You all have worked really hard, and i know that it has been hard on you all. Truthfully, i really admire and respect your hardwork and commitment to choir. The way all of you strived for a great concert together as one batch is certainly heartening. Most of you all have improved a lot, and i am really happy!
I cannot help but to take my hat off and applaud to all of you. Great job!
I believe that all of you have the potential and capability to do very well in Choir. All of you are beautiful singers, and you all know that. Now, what i would like you all to do is just to address my belief and work together as a batch towards one common goal.
TO MAKE MUSIC.
Prove to everyone out there, your friends, parents and friends of friends that people of DHSChoir are different. People from DHSChoir posseses this unexplained X factor that no one else can have.
From deep down in my heart, i know you all can do it. You all are capable. You guys will live up to the reputation of being a DHS Chorister. I have faith in all of you.
Well, i know that some of you all may be hating me for the auditions. You may be hating me because i failed you guys. Its really okay if you hate me though. I can't tell you not to hate me.
But ultimately, i hope that you will be able to learn from mistakes and pick yourselves up from failure.
That is how people succeed, and that is also how YOU will succeed.
By picking yourselves up from failure and being resilient, you guys may be the toughest and strongest ones in DHSChoir. People around you may quaver and weaken under failure or stress but ultimately, you guys will be the last ones standing.
The auditions do not distinguish between good and poor singers. It just shows how transparent you are (able to know where you have gone wrong), how resilient you are (able to pick yourselves up from failure), and how high your rebound will be (how much further you are capable of bringing youselve up to despite a failure).
Prove to everyone that you guys are strong and tough. I believe you can.
I have to tell all of you year 1s, that i really dislike auditions too. I hate it when i have to be judging who performs for concert and who dosen't.
It really is painful when i lift up my pen and cross your name. It breaks my heart. Sincerely, i have been crossing my fingers and hoping that all of you will pass the auditions.
In future, to prevent the taking place of auditions, there is one solution. That is to work hard together as a batch, practice as a batch, up to a standard whereby Ms Tham is able to not audition you guys and say all of you have passed as an entire batch. Make history for DHSChoir.
I know that you guys have been planning pratices together and that is excellent. Good Job!
You guys are the first year 1 batch to ever start planning practises together as a level and i am extremely proud of you guys. Wonderful!
On and all, i would like to say Good Job, Good Effort! Continue to work hard for DHSChoir. Don't give up easily and down turn your heads away from setbacks. FIGHT it and WIN. You all can.
I have faith in all of you. Will definitely miss you guys after handover.
All the best and strive hard as a batch togehter okay?
Will never forget you wonderful bunch of people. (:
Once a DHSCHORISTER, always a DHSCHORISTER.
From,
Clement.

Hey year 1s! :)
Since i received a few sweet and touching emails from you cute little year 1s i've decided to write something to you guys too :)
Firstly, greaaaat job for concert yesterday night! Seems like our hard work really paid off right! :)
Thankyou juniors for being so cute and guai most of the times, and for that humongous card to the year 4s! :) I was veryvery touched when i saw it ytd! :')
After yesterday's surprise from you guys, i realised that you guys are actually a veryvery nice and thoughtful bunch of juniors! Although sometimes you all very active and playful during practices but nvm lah, all year 1s are like that one right x)
Anyway, you guys must treasure your time in dhschoir okay, because time really passes by very, very quickly. In the blink of an eye, you guys will experience your first handover, first batch of juniors, first syf, last concert, last handover, and then it's all over. I could still remember my very first concert and handover. I never expected everything to end so fast, actually.
Do remember that in choir, you guys will make true friends who will probably last you through a lifetime, because they're the ones who will stick with you through thick and thin, ups and downs, and you guys will overcome obstacles together as a choir, as a batch.
Remember to treasure your seniors and juniors (next year!), because there'll be no time for regrets by the time you realise it :)
Also, remember that you guys have to bond as a batch alright! Because when it's your turn to lead the choir, it's very important to maintain good relationships with those whom you guys will be working with :) It's very important to plan occassional outings as a level, or choir practice sessions (which you guys have been doing, so keep up the good work!) :D
One last thing that i want to let you guys know that you must put in your very best for every single choir practice alright :) I believe in the following concerts, competitions or any auditions, every single one of you will be able to make it through! :)
Do remember to take down notes when ms tham or mr tay says anything, and don't forget to shhhhh and pay attention during practices! :)
Soon, you will have your first batch of juniors and it will be time for you guys to set good examples for them!
Anyway, just want to let you all know that it's been an amazing journey with you guys throughout these few months. Although it's been quite a short period of time, but i'm sure we all cherish them alot right? :)
Hope your very first (and my very last T^T) concert has been a veryvery memorable one! It's been great having you guys around, and don't worry, i'll be back in senior high choir! Andddd the seniors will occassionally come back and visit you guys during choir practices one ok! :)
Oh, and if you guys see me around in school, don't forget to wave and say hi to me alright! :)
I love you juniors soooooooo much. Thank you for everything you've done for us, we really appreciate it alotalot :D Although it might be the end of the journey for us, it's also a whole new beginning for you guys :D
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH! The memories i have with you guys and dhschoir will last me through a lifetime :')
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened :)
Wait, even if cry, also must wait until handover then flood the choir room! :')
With lots of looooove,
RUOWEI :)
